Biochips enabling continuous flow cell based assays

We currently offer three biochips, the Vena8 Fluoro+™, Vena8™ and the VenaEC™, which you can choose from depending on your needs.  All biochips mimic human capillaries by working in tandem with the different instrumentation platforms available from Cellix.

Compatible with existing syringe pumps for shear stresses above 2 dyne/cm2.

Vena8 Endothelial+™ Biochip - NEW!!!

The Vena8 Endothelial+™ biochip is ideal for studying cell-cell interaction.  Endothelial cells are easily seeded (via standard pipette) and cultured inside the microcapillaries of the biochip.   As cells flow through the microcapillary of the Vena8 Endothelial+™ biochip, the cell surface receptors may interact with the endothelial cell monolayer which coats the microcapillary walls.   Ideal for use with phase contrast imaging and fluorescence imaging to study cell-cell interactions under conditions mimicking physiological flow.

Vena8 Fluoro+™ Biochip

The Vena8 Fluoro+™ biochip is ideal for studying cell receptor-ligand interaction and is compatible with confocal microscopy.  As cells flow through the microcapillary of the Vena8 Fluoro+™ biochip, the cell surface receptors may interact with adhesion molecules or ligands which coat the microcapillary walls.   Ideal for use with fluorescence immunostaining, confocal microscopy and for applications such as thrombosis.

Vena8™ Biochip

The Vena8™ biochip is ideal for studying cell receptor-ligand interaction.  As cells flow through the microcapillary of the Vena8™ biochip, the cell surface receptors may interact with adhesion molecules or ligands which coat the microcapillary walls.   Ideal for phase-contrast imaging.

VenaEC™ Biochip

The VenaEC™ biochip is ideal for studying cell-cell interaction.  In the case of the VenaEC™ biochip, endothelial cells are actually seeded and cultured on one surface of the microcapillary and suspension cells or whole blood, can flow over the endothelial cell monolayer, enabling the user to study cell-cell interaction under conditions mimicking physiological flow.

Features

  • Applicable for cell rolling and adhesion studies to adhesion molecules or cell-cell interaction studies.
  • Suitable for a wide range of cell suspensions (primary and cell lines) including T-cells, monocytes, pbmcs, neutrophils, eosinophils, platelets and whole blood (heparanized).
  • Vena8 Fluoro+ and Vena8:  Easy to coat microcapillaries with standard pipette with a range of different adhesion molecules including VCAM, ICAM, MAdCAM, fibronectin, vWF, collagen, fibrinogen etc.
  • Vena8 Endothelial+ and VenaEC:  Easy to seed and culture a variety of endothelial cells (monolayers) including HUVEC, HMVEC, HCAECs etc.
  • Biochip plastic is optically clear permitting detailed microscopy studies.
  • 0.05 to 20 dyne/cm2 shear stresses easily obtained and controlled by the Mirus Nanopump.
  • Shear stress may be preset to incrementally increase during an assay.
  • Real-time imaging under flow conditions.
