Over the years Cellix has always been keen to spot oppourtunities which can further the use of in vitro technologies. Drug discovery is a lenghty and very expensive process taking on average up to $1 billion to bring a drug from its initial deveopment stage to an on-the-shelf product.
A new drug candidate needs to be tested ‘in vivo’ – in a living organism – for its toxicity, efficacy and ability to perform better that any similar drug already on the market. Cellix realised that dynamic, continuous flow experiments, by simulating a blood vessel, would be more representative of the physiological condition. The assay would mimic the flow of blood thereby providing a better simulation of how a new drug might react within the body.
In order to understand how Cellix technologies would fit into the industry it was important to undertake research projects to validate the VenaFlux Platform in different application areas such as, Immunology, Bacteriology, Cardiovascular, Respiratory and Oncology.
