Peter Fitzgerald – Chairman

Peter is Managing Director and co-founder of Randox Laboratories, a wolrd leader in the field of protein biochip technology. Established in 1982, Randox is a multimillion pound business employing over 600 people, including 185 research scientists with distribution agreements in 130 countries.

Vivienne Williams – Director

Vivienne, a former scholar of Trinity College Dublin, holds a degree and M.Sc. in Physics from Trinity. Vivienne’s work as a postgraduate in Microfluidics with Dmitry Kashanin and Prof. I. V. Shvets resulted in the start-up company, Cellix Ltd., of which she is a co-founder and CEO.

Igor Shvets – Director

Igor is a Professor of Physics at Trinity College Dublin, having lectured there since 1991. He is also a Fellow of Trinity College and Principal Investigator of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). He heads an active research group of some 20 researchers. As a recognized expert and consultant in the field of nanotechnology, he is the author of more than 100 technical papers and numerous patent applications. Prof. Shvets is also co-founder of Cellix Ltd.

Dermot Kelleher – Director

Dermot is Professor of Medicine at Trinity College Dublin; Consultant Gastroenterologist in St. James’s Hospital Dublin and Director of the Institute of Molecular Medicine, Dublin. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, London, and author of numerous medical papers and textbooks. Dermot is a world expert in medical research and currently heads a group of more than 50 medical researchers.

John Monahan – Director

John is an experienced CEO in the management of complex high tech, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical companies. He has built and directed a number of successful teams that excelled in these companies. Most recently, John founded and built Avigen Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGN), a company which has become a leader in its sector for the development of gene therapy products for the treatment of serious human diseases. Over a 12 year period as CEO, John managed several private and public financings including its IPO. In total, in both the public and private marketplace, John raised over $235M as CEO. John led the company through the filing of a number of investigational new drug (IND) applications and left the company in good hands in terms of its management, a cash position of $100M and some very exciting commercial products in late development.

Paul-Henry Schmelck – Director

Paul-Henry is an experienced investor with OTC Asset Management and 10 years experience in the investment world of biotech and pharma as part of Credit Agricole’s Private Equity Team. A paediatric doctor by training, Paul-Henry worked at the Necker Hospital for sick children in Paris. Paul-Henry was also previously the Director of Biotechnology R&D at Elf-Sanofi, now known as Sanofi-Aventis.
