Cellix develops, manufactures and sells microfluidic pumping solutions, consumable biochips, software and automated solutions for applications in cell biology, microfluidics and nanofluidics, physics, chemistry, cell and particle studies. Customers include biology laboratories in academia, government laboratories and the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry worldwide.
Examples of assays for cell biology include investigation of cell adhesion, migration and transmigration under physiological flow conditions (mimicked in our biochips) and cell culture with easy to use iPod touch and iPad mini controlled microfluidic pumps. Therapeutic areas include thrombosis, oncology, atherosclerosis, inflammation, infectious diseases (e.g. malaria), biofilm culture, stem cell research, sickle cell disease, asthma and allergies.
Customers include academics, blood centers and pharmaceutical & biotechnology companies around the world.
Stemming from a collaborative partnership between the Department of Physics and Clinical Medicine at Trinity College Dublin, Cellix was incorporated by co-founders Vivienne Williams, Dmitry Kashanin and Igor Shvets. In 2006, the company spun-out from Trinity College and established it's head office at incubation space located on-campus at St. James's Hospital in Dublin. In 2011, Cellix expanded and relocated to an industrial facility at Longmile Business Park which comprised laboratory, manufacturing and warehouse together with offices.
Peter Fitzgerald – Chairman
Peter is Managing Director and co-founder of Randox Laboratories, a world leader in the field of protein biochip technology. Established in 1982, Randox is a multimillion pound business employing over 600 people, including 185 research scientists with distribution agreements in 130 countries.
Vivienne Williams – Director
Vivienne, a former scholar of Trinity College Dublin holds a degree in M.Sc in Physics from Trinity. Vivienne's work as a postgraduate in Microfluidics with Dmitry Kashanin and Prof. I.V. Shvets resulted in founding Cellix Ltd of which she is a co-founder and CEO.
Igor Shvets – Director
Igor is a Professor of Physics at Trinity College Dublin, having lectured there since 1991. He is also a Fellow of Trinity College and Principal Investigator of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI). He heads an active research group of some 20 researchers. As a recognized expert and consultant in the field of nanotechnology, he is the author of more than 100 technical papers and numerous patent applications. Prof. Shvets is also co-founder of Cellix Ltd.
John Monahan – Director
John, an experienced CEO in managing complex high tech, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical companies. He has built and directed a number of successful teams, most recently Avigen Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGN), a company which has become a leader in its sector for the development of gene therapy products for the treatment of serious human diseases. Over 12 years as CEO, John managed several private and public financings and has raised over $235m as CEO in both public and private markets.

Emmanuelle, is a partner with OTC Asset Management with over 12 years experience in the private equity industry.
