Adhesion
Following activation of the leukocyte, up-regulation of integrins occurs, in particular CD18 which is believed to have a critical role in the firm adhesion of leukocytes to the endothelium. These activated integrins interact with IgG superfamily molecules on the surface of the endothelium resulting in firm adhesion and spreading of the leuckocyte.
